Apple Releases Aperture 2.0.1

Apple released Aperture 2.0.1 today. While the release notes are the typically terse:

Aperture 2.0.1 addresses issues related to performance and overall stability. It also fixes a number of other minor issues. This update is recommended for all Aperture users.

Apple did provide a longer list of fixes in a separate document which has the following items:

  • Upgrading libraries from earlier versions of Aperture
  • Publishing .Mac Web Gallery albums
  • Preview generation and deletion
  • Creating and ordering books
  • AppleScript support
  • Keyboard shortcut customization
  • Appearance of metadata overlays in the Browser, Filmstrip, and on light tables
  • Watermarking of emailed photos
  • Highlight Hot and Cold Areas

It also fixes a number of other minor issues, some involving the following areas:

  • Loupe
  • Smart Albums
  • All Projects View
  • Straighten Tool
  • Filmstrip
  • Drag and drop import
  • Thumbnail generation
  • Import window
  • Export plug-in reliability

I’m still using the trial copy of Aperture so the update won’t come through software update. An Aperture serial number is needed to download the 43.9MB standalone installer. New Aperture trial downloads will be the latest Aperture 2.0.1. Current trial owners can download the full trial version again using the link in your original e-mail (with the trial serial number) and re-installing.
